Nicole Painter

Dedicated Occupational Therapist with a special interest in the treatment of children with barriers to learning.
Nicole is a certified Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) therapist; a registered DIR® Floortime™ Practitioner and Tomaties®/Solisten® Practitioner.
After graduating from the University of Cape Town (UCT) with a BSc Occupational Therapy degree in 2007, Nicole completed her community service year at Ngwelezane Hospital, Empangeni. 

She went on to work at The London Children’s Practice in England before returning to Cape Town in 2009, to work at Step by Step Occupational Therapy Practice at Reddam House School, situated in Tokai, Cape Town.  She now owns and manages this practice. 

Nicole strives to ensure that each child she treats is better understood by his or her parents and class teacher, so that they are able to support their child optimally.  She encourages each child to be the best that they can be.

Tayla Wall

Passionate and energetic occupational therapist with a playful, fun-loving nature. 
Tayla will have completed her sensory integration certification next year in 2022. Thereafter she aims to further her training in DIR® Floortime™.
After graduating from the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2018 with a BSc in Occupational Therapy, Tayla went on to complete her community service at Groote Schuur Hospital in the Western Cape. She began working at Step by Step Occupational Therapy Practice, situated in Tokai, Cape Town at the beginning of 2020. She believes in a collaborative approach to therapy, and that collective knowledge is one of the biggest strengths when working with children and their families. 
She loves working with children both individually and in groups. Her goal is to help children flourish academically and socially to make their schooling experience a positive one, as she strongly feels that schooling forms the basis of our lives and sets us up for further successes.

Stacey Trend

Gentle and empathetic occupational therapist who will go the extra mile for each child. 
Stacey is certified as an Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) therapist. 
After qualifying at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2013, with a B. Occupational Therapy degree, Stacey went on to complete her community service in 2014 in Northern KZN at Vryheid District Hospital. She then went on to explore her interests in paediatrics by working in the field of school-based occupational therapy. In 2015, she worked in the government sector at Thuthukani Special School. This is where her love of children, special needs and school-based intervention was found. 
Stacey moved to a private school in Ballito in June 2016. By having more of a role in the classroom setting, she was able to see the true value of working in multidisciplinary setting in order to fully support the child.
Stacey began working at Step by Step Occupational Therapy Practice, situated in Tokai, Cape Town in 2017. She loves the wide variety of learning and training that working closely with other therapists provides. 
Stacey is passionate about working with children. She is a firm believer that working as a team for the child is the best way to help them reach their full potential.

Elana Janse van Rensburg

Dependable occupational therapist who has a strong belief in collaborative goal setting to ensure functional and lasting progress. 
Elana has recently completed her master’s degree, which explored the validity of sensory integration assessments in the South African setting. She is in the process of obtaining her sensory integration certification.  
Elana obtained her B. Occupational Therapy degree at the University of the Free State in 2017. She went on to complete her community service year in Ficksburg, situated in the Free State. 
In 2019 Elana worked at an adult and paediatric neuro-rehabilitation centre. She gained first-hand experience in working closely with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of physiotherapists, speech therapists, audiologists, dietitians and general practitioners.  
Elana began working at Step by Step Occupational Therapy Practice, situated in Tokai, Cape Town at the beginning of 2020. She enjoys understanding complex children and making sense of children who are misunderstood due to barriers they may experience to learning, to allow optimal engagement in everyday activities.
